Product Certification Body MG Global offers accredited certification against the international standard PEFC ST 2002:2020 - Chain of Custody.
What is PEFC:
PEFC – The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems. As an international non-profit, non-governmental organization, PEFC is dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification.
PEFC is a global alliance
A membership organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, it has more than 80 members located worldwide, including national certification systems, NGOs, trade unions, businesses, trade associations, forest owner organisations and stakeholders. PEFC has 55 national independent national organisations that develop and implement the PEFC system in their country. PEFC also has 29 international stakeholders, including companies, organisations and associations whose principles and objectives support PEFC. PEFC is currently the largest forest certification scheme in the world!
Currently, more than 20,000 companies and organizations in more than 70 countries have achieved PEFC chain of custody certification. This equates to a third of all chain of custody certifications worldwide.
PEFC Chain of Custody certification tracks forest-based products from sustainable sources to the final product. It demonstrates that every step of the supply chain is closely monitored through independent auditing to ensure that unsustainable sources are excluded.
PEFC certification is the preferred standard for public timber procurement policies in the UK, Germany and Japan, in addition to numerous private timber sourcing policies. PEFC certification also demonstrates compliance with legal requirements, including the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR), the US Lacey Act and the Australian Illegal Logging Regulations.
PEFC Label on products
You can find the PEFC label on a huge range of products, from tissues, toilet paper and notebooks, to wooden floors, bookcases and your garden shed. And of course, don't forget the packaging: tea bags, cereals, rice and much more come in PEFC-certified packaging.
The PEFC label helps you make an easy choice: choose a beautiful product made from a natural, renewable resource – supporting our forests and helping them thrive!
What does the PEFC label mean?
When you see the PEFC label on a product, it means that it comes from a PEFC-certified forest (obviously, only the forest material in the product). A PEFC-certified forest is a forest that is managed in accordance with the strictest environmental, social and economic requirements. A forest that will exist for generations to come.
Through PEFC certification, we can trace the material from these forests down the supply chain to the final product you buy. The mechanism for tracking the material is called chain of custody certification. In addition to ensuring that the material comes from a certified forest, it also protects the rights of workers during the production process.
How to get a PEFC Chain of Custody certificate?
PEFC chain of custody certification is available worldwide and is open to all companies that produce, process, trade or sell forest products.
The PEFC label is a globally accepted trademark that helps you and your customers identify and promote materials from sustainably managed forests.
