WHAT IS FSSC 22000?
FSSC 22000 is a scheme based on a combination of ISO 22000 and additional scheme requirements.
Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 is an internationally accepted certification scheme based on a combination of sector-specific preliminary programmes (PRPs) under ISO 22000 and additional FSSC requirements. FSSC 22000 was developed in response to customer demands for a recognizable standard against which a food safety management system can be audited and certified.
FSSC 22000 has received global recognition from the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), as well as other food safety schemes such as BRC or IFS. The certification scheme is owned by the Foundation for Food Safety Certification /FSSC/.
FSSC 22000 was developed for the certification of food safety systems that ensure product safety during the primary production of animal products, the production of perishable animal and/or plant products, products with a long shelf life and (other) food ingredients such as supplements, vitamins and biocultures, the production of animal food and feed and the production of food packaging and recently included catering services, retail/wholesale and transport and storage services.
