EU expands CO₂ verification data for heavy-duty vehicles

Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/1282 was published on 22 August 2026, amending and correcting the rules on data collected and reported under the CO₂ emissions regime for heavy-duty vehicles. The act enters into force on 11 September 2026 and concerns manufacturers, national authorities and technical services, including those determining the emissions of O3 and O4 trailers. It adds data on manufacturers and components necessary for the risk assessment of in-service emissions verification and clarifies how technical services communicate their responsibilities. The organisations concerned should update the data dictionaries, the allocation of responsibilities and the control over the sources and completeness of the records before entry into force.

T–7: new rules on cobalt in toys come into effect

On 29 August 2026, the amended cobalt requirement in the Regulation on the essential requirements and conformity assessment of toys will enter into force in Bulgaria. This is a reminder of the T–7 threshold, not a new regulatory act. Only the three explicitly defined uses are permitted: as a nickel additive in stainless steel, in parts intended to conduct electrical current, and in neodymium magnets that cannot be swallowed or inhaled. Manufacturers, importers, laboratories and conformity assessment bodies should confirm the material declarations, the traceability of components, the applicable exemption and the accessibility of magnets by the deadline and update the chemical assessment, the test plan and the technical dossier.
